Cheltenham Motor Club
was founded in 1906. Which makes it one of the oldest active Motor Clubs
in the United Kingdom and is one of only a handful to own its own Clubhouse.
Our Clubhouse can be found in Upper Park Street, just off Hales Road and the A40 London Road, in what was formerly known as the Crown Inn. If you are interested in Motoring or Motorsport then we can offer you all the assistance or advice you need to become involved yourself. Our full Members are involved in all forms of Motorsport at all levels, whether it is Competing, Marshalling or Organising, see some pictures. A PASSION FOR DRIVING? Throughout the year we run a number of low budget events that are an ideal introduction to Motorsport. "Pete Singfield 12-Car Navigational Series" aimed at beginners and novices an ideal introduction to the sport. The 12-Car Nav-Ex and Navigational Scatters, normally on the third Friday of the month October, November, January, February and March "Tony Brewer Memorial Summer Series" more of a fun element to our summer events, some of the events open to the general public, standard cars ideal for beginners and experts alike, comprising of motor gymkhanas, autotests, treasure hunts and scatters, normaly held on the third Friday of the month, May to September. "Get it Sideways Stages Rally" a National B status rally is our main event of the year, normally run around the third Saturday in April and it is a round of the Cotswold Motorsport Group, the HRCR Clubmans and Mini Cup Championships. It is organised with the "Club Motorsport" contender in mind, overall awards are only for two wheel drive cars. "Pistons" is now a regular and popular event in the early Autumn, a static display of anything motorsport, located in the centre of Cheltenham on a Saturday, it always goes down well with the shoppers. "Torque Motors" on the first Monday of each month at 8:30pm. September to March. A dedicated night to meet new members a selection of activities with the aim to introduce people to the sport: Marshal and Navigational training, Motorsport Quiz's, Trips out, DVD evenings and Guest Speakers. "Motorsport Cup" Motor Club members championship, points are awarded to any Club members who compete, organise, marshal or represent the Club at motorsport events, with a trophy to be presented at the AGM. "Fantasy Formula 1" Fantasy Formula 1 competition open to all Club members, click here for more details. The Clubhouse is open seven nights a week and all day on Saturday. The main Club nights are Monday and Friday, the Winter 12 Car Nav-Ex and Summer Series events are normally held on the third Friday. Other local groups also meet at the Clubhouse, Motorcycle Scramble and Trial Clubs, Grass Track, American Car & Drag Racing (also see What’s on). On the Social side we have a licensed bar and have gained a good reputation for the quality of the Real Ales, winning numerous CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) awards in recent years. See our Beer list. We regularly raise money for charities with our “Wheel Ale” beer festival, Club Quiz’s and BBQ’s. We have teams in the local
Pool and Darts leagues and extended opening for some televised international
sporting events. We have monthly trips out to pubs, breweries and Curry
houses in the area. We also have a walking group. CAMRA Campaign for Real Ale: Gloucestershire Club of the year 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 South West Regional Club of the year 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011and 2012 Runner up in National Club of the year 2007.
